Delta Air Lines has reconciled with Airlines for America and will rejoin the trade group in 2020.
The airline cut ties with A4A four years ago over a number of policy differences, saying its $5 million annual dues would be better spent investing in the company.
A4A welcomed Delta back saying ‘we are a stronger association with Delta as a member.’
Delta was the only airline opposed to privatization of the air traffic control system, taking it out of the control of the FAA, a move the trade group supported.
The airline has since reversed its position on ATC policy although privatization hasn’t moved forward.
It was also irked at A4A’s lack of support for its campaign – along with United and American Airlines – to push back on the US expansion of Gulf carriers Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways.
"Delta and our employees look forward to rejoining A4A and working jointly with other airline members to address issues that impact our people, our customers and the communities we serve," says Delta chief executive Ed Bastian.
"We will work together with A4A to support priorities like promoting sustainability initiatives and fighting unnecessary passenger taxes."
