The Walt Disney Company has announced plans for two new ships for the Disney Cruise Line.
A memorandum of agreement with the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany calls for two new 135,000 gross ton ships to enter service in 2021 and 2023 respectively.
"The expansion of Disney Cruise Line only adds to our excitement for the unprecedented growth taking place across our vacation destinations," said Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
Specific details are scant at the moment, but each vessel, which will be marginally larger than the current Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, will feature about 1,250 guest staterooms.
Design plans and itineraries are still in development, Disney said, and more details about onboard amenities will be revealed at a later date.
