As America celebrates 250 years, Disney Experiences' economic impact is enormous

As the United States marks its 250th anniversary, Disney Experiences is shining a spotlight on the thousands of small businesses that help power its parks, resorts, cruise operations and attractions across the 50 U.S. States.

The initiative coincides with the launch of Soarin’ Across America, a reimagined version of the popular attraction that celebrates iconic U.S. landscapes while highlighting the extensive network of suppliers, operators and creative partners that contribute to Disney experiences every day.

According to Disney, its experiences division generates nearly $67 billion in annual economic impact across the U.S., supports more than 403,000 jobs nationwide, and works with thousands of businesses in all 50 states.

Many of these partnerships span decades and include family-owned companies, manufacturers, food suppliers, designers and tourism operators. Disney says these long-term relationships help businesses expand, create jobs and invest in their local communities.

Among the companies featured are for example Alaska-based cruise operator Allen Marine Tours, dairy supplier Southeast Dairy Processors in Florida, California creative specialist Rando Productions, Hawaiian food distributor Y. Hata & Co., Missouri design firm PGAV Destinations, New York textile manufacturer Richloom, and Arizona tourism attraction Grand Canyon West.

Massive impact in California and Florida

Industry leaders say the economic benefits extend well beyond Disney’s own operations.

The attractions industry has a unique ability to drive economic impact at both the local and national level,” said Jakob Wahl, President and CEO of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). “When guests travel to experience destinations and attractions, that spending supports thousands of small to mid-sized businesses across hospitality, food and beverage, retail and more.

Disney’s influence is particularly significant in Florida and California, home to its largest domestic destinations. The company says it supports nearly one in every 32 jobs in Central Florida and almost one in every 20 jobs in Orange County, California.

Looking ahead, Disney plans to invest $30 billion in its U.S. parks and experiences through 2033, funding new attractions, themed lands and resort enhancements while creating additional opportunities for employees, suppliers and small businesses.

The newly launched Soarin’ Across America attraction is now open at Walt Disney World Resort and debuts at Disneyland Resort on July 2 as part of Disney’s broader “Disney Celebrates America” initiative commemorating the nation’s milestone anniversary.
