Disney’s newly opened Shanghai park is close to welcoming its one millionth visitor says Disney chief executive Robert Iger.
"It would be safe to assume almost a million people have experienced the park," Iger said at a tech conference in Aspen.
Disney’s first foray in mainland China officially opened in mid-June and has entrance fee of 370 yuan and 499 yuan for peak days.
The company’s sixth park has integrated more local elements to lure China’s growing middle class but is still the most technologically advanced park yet.
"I very much wanted to avoid being called a cultural imperialist," Iger said.
The 3.9 square kilometre site cost more than $5 billion to build and is one of the largest foreign investment projects constructed in China.
