Disruption to Flybe and SAS flights after aircraft safety checks
Flybe has grounded six Bombardier Q400 aircraft for safety checks at the request of the manufacturers.
SAS also grounded its Q400 aircraft, leading to the cancellation of 112 flights.
The request came after the landing gear on two Q400s owned by SAS collapsed on touch down. No passengers were injured.
Flybe said there was some disruption to flights yesterday but expects today’s programme to operate as normal.
Agents and passengers were advised to check its website or call its call centre on 0871 522 6157.
Domestic flights serving Edinburgh, Belfast, Gatwick, the Isle of Man, Manchester, Southampton and the Channel Islands were either cancelled or delayed.
Bombardier and Goodrich asked for 60 of the aircraft operating around the world to be grounded until an inspection of the landing gear is carried out.
