Dollar-Euro exchange rate not hurting tour companies
Tour companies are thriving despite the rise of the euro against the US dollar and Europe remains a popular destination for American travelers this summer, according to news reports.
American travelers are still taking their trips but sometimes planning more carefully so they can stretch their budgets.
“Companies offering packaged hotel and airfare deals, sightseeing and
transportation tours say business is up,” said the Associated Press.
One major reason: tours are offering cost-effective vacations by setting prices in advance and negotiating rates that are better than most individual travelers can find.
Some tour companies are reporting their best year ever.
Revenues and travel volumes are up more than 30% from last year, said one operator, Marc Kazlauskas, president of the New York-based Insight Vacations. His company charges about $175 a day for its European tours that include everything from hotels to bellmen gratuities.
