Dollywood owner makes big amusement park acquisition

Dollywood parent company Herschend has inked an acquisition deal to buy the US amusement park portfolio of Palace Entertainment.
The deal includes 20 park venues including Adventureland, Kennywood and Dutch Wonderland.
Palace Entertainment, a subsidiary of Spain-based Parqques Reunidos owns amusement parks, water parks, entertainment centers, and campgrounds in 10 states.
“We look forward to building upon the strong foundation that Palace Entertainment has created and welcoming these properties and hosts into the Herschend family of brands,” said Hershend CEO, Andrew Wexler.
Herschend says it will ensure a smooth transition for employees, partners and park guest with no immediate operational changes planned.
No specific transaction details have been disclosed.
