Domestic cruising to restart in Malaysia
Star Cruises will resume sailing in Malaysia for domestic guests starting in May.
Owner Genting Cruise Lines sealed an agreement with Penang Port to offer short sailings for Malaysian guests on the Star Pisces cruise ship.
Starting 13 May 2021, it will operate one-night ‘Straits Of Malacca’ cruises three times a week.
A ‘Langkawi Escape’ two-night cruise operates twice a week.
The Star Pisces can accommodate 1,600 guests although all ship activities will operate at limited capacity.
"The new Langkawi itineraries will provide Malaysians the opportunity to enjoy the pleasures of cruising again and will bring much-needed benefits to the local workforce, restaurants, retailers and hotels," said Cynthia Lee, Vice-President for Genting Cruise Lines in Malaysia.
Genting Cruise Lines ‘new norm of safe cruising’ includes passenger testing before boarding and strict health screening for gests and crew.
Genting’s Dream Cruises brand has restarted short cruises in Taiwan and from Singapore with ‘incident-free operations.’
