Dophop.com extends service
Global consumer flight planning service dohop.com has extended its service to offer technology to airlines.
The Iceland-based company is already working with Iceland Express and Canadian low-cost airline WestJet to offer a flight connections service on their websites.
Dohop chief executive Frosti Sigurjonsson said: “It helps the airlines to fill more seats because it enables them to connect passengers to other destinations.”
WestJet has selected a number of airlines to partner with for the service while Iceland Express is offering consumers on its site dohop’s entire global flight network, apart from competitors.
Sigurjonsson says dohop has also received interest from airports for the flight planning technology.
The company is also offering a low-cost interline service enabling passengers to book connecting no-frills flights together but only entering their details once. The technology is ideal for business travellers booking flights themselves and bringing only carry-on luggage.
“We have the technology that can connect any airline to partner with another airline who has a complementary route network and they can cross-sell for each other.”
Sigurjonsson the company was poised to offer analytical information to airlines because of the data on consumer searches it has access to.
“We have a database of where people want to fly and when and it is completely unrestricted information of dates and destinations. We can see where there is demand for a route which is not being served.”
