Following the US Department of Transportation’s approval of the sale of Hawaii carrier Island Air, a new executive team has been announced for the airline featuring several familiar faces.
Former Island Air CEO Les Murashige, who served from 2012-2013, is returning to take the top job, while another ex-CEO Rob Mauracher will become chief operating officer.
Long term Hawaii Tourism Authority executive David Uchiyama has joined as chief commercial officer.
Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison is selling his controlling stake in Island Air to local investment firm PacifiCap.
Ellison will retain a small interest in the company and will work with the airline’s new management team.
Current CEO Dave Pflieger stepped down on Monday and will work on other projects directly with Ellison.
"It’s an honor to return to the helm of this storied airline, and l look forward to working together with our new owners, our Board and the terrific men and women of Island Air to ensure we remain Hawaii’s local alternative for interisland travel," said new chief executive Murashige.
