DOT escalates fight against airline fees

The Transportation Department has ramped up pressure on unjust airline fees.
It is rolling out a ‘dashboard’ tool showing airlines that allow families to sit together without fees.
The Biden Administration is flighting to end such ‘junk fees.’
The dashboard shows which airlines allow adults to sit with young children for free when seats are available.
So far, only three US airlines do so – Alaska Air, American and Frontier Airlines.
“Families should be able to sit together without an airline forcing them to pay junk fees,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said.
“Now we’re seeing some airlines start to make this common-sense change.”
Several other carriers have vowed to revise their seating policies.
United Airlines is due to roll out a new family seating policy this month.
