Genting owned Dream Cruises’ second ship has been christened in Hong Kong.

The 3,400 passenger World Dream was named at the Kai Tak cruise terminal and becomes the second ship for the first luxury line purpose built for the Asia market.

It joins Genting Dream which entered service last year and recently shifted to Singapore.

"We are truly excited to christen World Dream in Hong Kong—and to be the first-ever cruise ship to have this honour in a city that holds such significance to Genting Hong Kong and Dream Cruises," said Genting Hong Kong chairman and CEO, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay.

"With Genting Dreams’ arrival in the Pearl River Delta a year ago, she has delivered over 300,000 international passenger trips from across the region. Hundreds of jobs have been created and tourism receipts in hotels, airlines and destination management industries for the Pearl River Delta have grown significantly."

World Dream will sail on six-day voyages to the Philippines calling at Manila and Boracay, and to Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh and Nha Trang.

Meanwhile Genting Hong Kong said it plans to offload part of its stake in Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings to third party investors.

It entered an agreement with shareholders Apollo Funds and TPG Fund to sell the stake worth about US$428 million.

It will still retain about 7.84% of NCLH which will be an ‘available-for-sale investment’ to interested parties.

Genting Hong Kong also has majority ownership of Asia based Star Cruises and luxury line Crystal Cruises.
