e-Travel and Tim/Timatic b.v. pioneer off-the-shelf solution for online visa and health information
MADRID, Spain and AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands: e-Travel, a leading global provider of online travel technology and business unit of Amadeus, and Tim/Timatic b.v, a division of IATA Netherlands Data Publications, have launched the first off-the-shelf visa and health application with entry requirements for 200 countries, for corporate and consumer travel sites. This application is available for temporary public viewing until 30 September 2002.

“With more and more people planning international trips online, corporations and consumer sites want to offer travellers a one-stop shopping experience, including the all-important and often-forgotten visa and health requirements,” explained Jerome Destors, Director e-Travel Suppliers and Agencies. “Using the e-Travel and Timatic solution, they can now do this more cost-effectively – instead of developing the application themselves.”
This user-friendly application is the most recent addition to e-Travel’s extensive portfolio of travel content products and services. Off-the shelf and available today, the application can also be quickly customized to reflect a site’s look and feel – so that travellers can enjoy a seamless experience on any online travel site. Web site integration has been simplified to avoid the costs and time-consuming process of having to develop a proprietary application.
“Countries’ visa and health requirements are constantly changing. We have seen increasing demand for an out-of-the-box web based application that would empower travelers to easily access this kind of information,” explained Bart Minnee, Director Travel Information Manual TIM. “This led us to partner with e-Travel to develop a solution to integrate into existing travel sites. Now online sites are in a far better position to meet their customers’ needs for the very latest updates.”
e-Travel has simplified navigation of Timatic for travellers. With just a few clicks, they can now view critical information for their chosen destination, such as essential documentation to enter the country, advice about local customs and potential health risks, vaccination requirements and more.
In addition:
Travellers can directly request and obtain a personalized health and visa report for any country in line with their nationality, passport type, alien residency, departure, and transit and destination points.
Through simplified drop-down menus, travellers can quickly define their search parameters to retrieve additional information including, tax, customs, currency and general geographical information.
For more than 10 years Tim/Timatic b.v has provided travel agencies that use the Amadeus system with visa and health requirement information necessary for international travel. Now this solution is available to any online travel site, including those corporate and leisure customers using e-Travel® Aergo and e-Travel® Planitgo.
