Eco-friendly adventures

Visitors can embark on kayaking or paddleboarding adventures through the waters of Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and First Landing State Park. Glide across waterways, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife, for an immersive nature experience. Bird watching at False Cape State Park offers a glimpse into Virginia Beach’s diverse birdlife, from migratory birds to native coastal species.

Mount Trashmore, the destination’s unique park that encompasses two man-made mountains and was created from compacted layers of solid waste and clean soil, offers visitors hiking trails that allow them to witness firsthand the park’s transformation while enjoying scenic trails With its paved and unpaved pathways, the park encourages an active, eco-friendly lifestyle while showcasing creative land restoration.

The eco-conscious practices extends beyond dining, with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Mobile Oyster Restoration Center anchored at the Brock Environmental Center. Earth Week Festivities

From April 19 to April 26, First Landing State Park will host Earth Week celebrations, offering programs that highlight environmental conservation. Over two weekends, visitors are invited to join the Rangers for engaging activities that highlight the importance of environmental conservation. Each day focuses on a unique theme, offering interactive programs, community partner exhibits and self-guided experiences.  Visitors can explore hands-on activities such as community clean-ups, eco-tours, and fun, educational experiences that connect them to the environment in meaningful ways.
