Luxury rail operator Belmond is bringing a series of ‘pop-up’ culinary events featuring internationally acclaimed chefs to the iconic Eastern & Oriental Express train.
For a three-night journey from Bangkok to Singapore on 22 – 25 November 2017, Thai celebrity chef Ian Kittichai brings his own take on breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner menus and will take guests on a guided tour of the local food market at Kanchanaburi.
Kittichai made his name at Sydney’s legendary French fine-dining restaurant, Claude’s and is a prolific author of cookery books and helms his own global food and beverage firm, Cuisines Concept Co.
He will also return in 18 – 20 November 2018 for another culinary journey onboard the Eastern & Oriental Express.
Departing Singapore for a two-night journey to Bangkok on 1 – 3 March 2018, leading Australian chef and restaurateur Luke Mangan takes over with a fresh food market visit before departure. After a specially crafted three-course dinner, guests will receive a personalised signed copy of his latest book ‘Salt Grill: Fine Dining for the Whole Family.’
"I am looking forward to welcoming Ian and Luke aboard Eastern & Oriental Express and working together to prepare fine cuisine. Guests travelling with us on these special journeys will taste exceptional bespoke dishes created with passion and originality," said the train’s executive chef, Yannis Martineau.
