easyCruise bookings open
No-frills cruise line easyCruise has opened online bookings for sailings in the Mediterranean this summer.
The latest venture from easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou is offering prices ranging from £59 to £159 depending on the grade of accommodation via its website www.easyCruise.com.
The first sailing is due on June 3 but the date may be brought forward to April 29 subject to the early completion of refurbishment to the line’s ship easyCruiseOne. The cruises will run until October 15.
The 170-passenger vessel is offering accommodation in three categories: 72 standard double cabins, six quadruple cabins and four suites with balconies. All cabins except the suites are internal with no windows.
Passengers will be charged an optional 15 euros to have their cabin cleaned with new bedding and towels but they will not be required to clean cabins themselves as first reports suggested.
Facilities on board the 15 year old vessel, which will be painted in distinctive Easygroup orange, include a cafe, sports bar, tapas bar and an outdoor six-person whirlpool bath.
The vessel will sail between the South of France and Italy, allowing passengers to stay on board for between two nights and two weeks. Ports of call include St Tropez, Cannes, Nice, Monaco, Imperia (for San Remo), Genoa and Portofino.
The ship will arrive at each destination at lunchtime and will depart in the early hours of the following morning, allowing passengers to take in the nightlife of each port of call.
The concept is designed to appeal to independently-minded passengers in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s who have not previously considered going on a conventional cruise, according to easyCruise.
“The flexible one-week itineraries allow you to embark and depart at any port on the route provided you stay on board at least two nights,” the company said.
