EasyJet saw a 10.5% jump in revenue to £1,033m for the third quarter of the year following a 7.5% increase in seats flown and a 10.9% increase in passengers to 16m.
Total revenue per seat was up 4.7% to £57.58, which the airline attributed to the success of its ‘europe by easyJet’ campaign, a recently launched mobile app and allocating more capacity into higher yielding markets.
Revenue per seat growth was 2.8%, due to the significant year on year change in the sterling exchange rate, which improved from 1.14 the previous year to 1.20.
The airline said around 75% of summer seats were now booked, in line with last year, and fourth quarter revenue per seat is expected to be similar to the third quarter.
Pre-tax profit for the year to the end of September is expected to be £280m to £300m, at current fuel and exchange rates.
Chief executive Carolyn McCall said: "EasyJet’s focus on the customer, tight operational and cost management and strict allocation of capital across its leading network means that it is able to continue to perform well financially and operationally despite a tough environment for consumer facing businesses."
