EasyJet has opened a new crew training centre at Gatwick and plans to recruit over 1,100 new pilots and crew within 12 months.
In total, 1,140 crew will join in the next year, with a split of approximately 830 cabin crew and 310 pilots.
There will be job opportunities for both pilots and crew at all easyJet’s bases across the UK – Belfast, Bristol, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Glasgow, Liverpool, Luton, Manchester, Newcastle, Southend and Stansted.
In addition, over the next year the airline will also promote 200 cabin crew to cabin managers and 140 co-pilots to captains.
The airline says a new initiative will help increase the number of female pilots it recruits. EasyJet wants to double the number of female pilots. Currently, just over 5% of its 2,500 are women.
EasyJet’s new £2.7 million academy, where 60% of the airline’s training will take place, was opened yesterday by Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin.
