Eating your way through Ireland

During the Good Food & Wine Show, Tourism Ireland and Les Routiers are giving two Australian foodies the opportunity to win a Gourmet Trip of a Life-time to Ireland.  The winners will follow the ultimate gourmet itinerary of the Emerald Isle compliments of Les Routiers & Tourism Ireland.

Les Routiers is an organisation which brings together a cross-section of accommodation and food establishments: hotels, country houses, B&Bs, guesthouses, farmhouses, restaurants, pubs, cafes and food shops in Ireland.  Les Routiers members are passionate about the quality of food and hospitality.

The prize includes 2 economy return tickets flying Gulf Air to Ireland with 7 nights’ accommodation and car hire.  Les Routiers in Ireland has carefully selected some great places to stay and visit. With Les Routiers you can discover Ireland through the people who grow, make and cook the kind of food we want to eat, food that has never seen a factory let alone a production line.

Gone are the days when ‘The Spud’ was the highlight of the Irish menu. In fact in recent years Ireland has become a foodie heaven.  With hundreds of kilometres of coastline and rich farmland visitors can expect some of the best fresh and natural produce in Europe.

Discovering Ireland through its local produce is undoubtedly one of the most satisfying ways of exploring the country. You get to meet interesting people, go to out-of-the-way places and you get to eat well.

The itinerary will take in some of the most scenic parts of Ireland, such as Waterford, home to the famous Waterford Crystal, Kinsale, often referred to as the Gourmet Capital of Ireland.

The scenic county Kerry with its beautiful lakes and dramatic coastline. The lucky winners will then head west and take in Galway and the Gaelic-speaking region west of Galway city – Connemara.

Then spend a night at the heart of Ireland and marvel at the majestic River Shannon, Ireland’s longest river.  Final night will be spent enjoying the cosmopolitan and vibrant city of Dublin. The only worry will be the few more notches on the belt!

To enter, all you need to do is visit the Ireland stand (J20) at the Good Food Show, Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre 23-25 June 06. For those unable to make it there is also an opportunity to enter via the Tourism Ireland Website  http://www.discoverireland.com.au/.  Terms and conditions apply
