El Al responds to Thomsonfly by raising capacity

Wednesday, 19 Jun, 2007 0

El Al is hiking in capacity this winter from the UK to Tel Aviv in the wake of Thomsonfly announcing the launch of low cost flights to the Israeli city.

The carrier is adding 1,000 seats a week by operating a Boeing 747-400 on five out of the 12 weekly flights into Tel Aviv.

El Al said it had committed the additional capacity in preparation for an anticipated boom in travel to Israel.

Thomsonfly yesterday unveiled plans for three weekly flights to Tel Aviv.

El Al sales and marketing manager Tim Gallagher said: “We welcome the support of Thomsonfly in adding its name to the ongoing campaign to put Israel, including Tel Aviv city breaks, and beach holidays to Eilat and the Red Sea, back on the travel and tourism map.”
