Eleven Aussie destinations on must-do list
Eleven Australian destinations have been named in a travel guide of 500 Places To Take Your Kids Before They Grow Up.
The Frommer’s Travel Guide includes iconic Aussie destinations such the Great Barrier Reef, Fraser Island, The Sydney Harbour Bridge, Uluru and Victoria’s Great Ocean Road.
Details of the list, due to be released next month, have been reported in the Herald Sun.
South Australia’s Kangaroo Island also featured, along with the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway from Cairns to Kuranda, the NSW Blue Mountains, the Sydney Aquarium, Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum and the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury, Western Australia.
“The 11 entries from Australia in the book are all crackerjack destinations with great activities, colour, action and movement for children,” Tourism Australia Chairman Tim Fischer told the Herald Sun.
“I have been to all of them over the years and there is something for everyone in the diversity that Australia has to offer.”
Bunbury’s Dolphin Discovery Centre managing director Andrew Horan said he and his staff were over the moon about being included on the list and hoped it would make people in Western Australia sit up and take notice.
“We are internationally renowned because of our commitment to the welfare of the dolphins but what we would like is for more Western Australians to come and have a look at what is on offer,” Mr Horan said.
