Emirates has expressed disappointment at being refused permission to appeal an earlier court ruling that said the airline must pay passengers for flight delays.
Last week, Supreme Court judges upheld an earlier decision made that ruled Emirates must pay compensation to a customer who missed a connecting flight outside of the EU and was delayed by more than three hours.
It means thousands of customers are now entitled to €600 in compensation for delayed flights.
An Emirates spokesperson: "We are very disappointed by the Supreme Court’s ruling denying us leave to appeal against the earlier judgement of the Court of Appeal in relation to the application of Regulation EC261 to flights of non-Community carriers originating outside of the EU.
"As one of the world’s largest airlines, we always comply with all legal requirements and based on the judgement, we’ll advise customers of our approach in due course."
