Emirates to scrap stand-alone fuel surcharges
Emirates is moving towards incorporating fuel surcharges into its published fares in the UK from April 1.
It claims to be the first carrier operating in the UK to make this move.
Vice President UK & Ireland Vic Sheppard said: “The cost of fuel is part of the operating cost of the airline, unlike airport taxes or security levies, and we feel that it makes more sense to our customers and to our travel trade partners, to make it a part of the fare.
Travel agents will continue to get paid commission on existing surcharges.
“This measure is designed to assist our partner agents in conveniently securing their fare share of commissions,” added Sheppard.
