Emirates is to more than halve its flights from Dubai to the United States, citing a drop in demand since Donald Trump became US President.
The airline blamed several new security measures introduced by Trump, which have specifically targeted travel from the Midde East.
These include an attempted ban on new visas for travel to the US from several mainly Muslim countries and a recent ban on laptops and other large electronic items in cabin bags on flights from several destinations, including the United Arab Emirates.
The UK has included a similar electronics ban on flights from certain destinations in the Middle East, but this does not cover Dubai.
Emirates will reduce its flights to five of the 12 US cities it serves, starting from next month. The cities affected are Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Seattle, Los Angeles and Boston.
An Emirates spokeswoman said: "The recent actions taken by the US government relating to the issuance of entry visas, heightened security vetting and restrictions on electronic devices in aircraft cabins have had a direct impact on consumer interest and demand for air travel into the US.
"Over the past three months, we have seen a significant deterioration in the booking profiles on all our US routes, across all travel segments."
