Escaped lions on the loose at Singapore Airport
A tense stand-off occurred on the tarmac at the Lion City’s airport.
Two lions escaped from their container as they were being loaded onto a Singapore Airlines flight at Changi Airport.
Airport authorities called in experts from Singapore’s Mandai Wildlife Group, which operates Singapore Zoo and Night Safari.
The big cats were then tranquilised and taken to Mandai’s animal quarantine facility along with five other lions.
It seems the two lions had no desire to go walkabout, although one jumped on top off the cage during a ‘stand off’ with animal control officers.
Singapore Airlines said the lions did not break out of a protective netting placed around the container which was put up during the loading onto the plane.
Authorities declined to say where the lions had arrived from or their final destination.
