Etihad Airways has appointed Dimitrios Karagkioules as general manager for Thailand.
Karagkioules starts the Bangkok-based role after a five-year stint in Athens as Etihad Airways General Manager for Greece.
Karagkioules will report to Craig Thomas, Etihad Airways VP for Asia Pacific North and the Indian Subcontinent, who is also based in Bangkok.
In a 20-year aviation career Karagkioules served in various sales and marketing management roles at Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines in Athens.
"We are delighted to welcome Dimitrios to the Asia Pacific management team and wish him success in the new role. As general manager for Thailand he will have significant responsibility for the performance of the Bangkok route – the busiest in the global network – and for our second Thai gateway, Phuket," said Etihad chief commercial officer Peter Baumgartner.
"I am truly delighted to have been appointed to the role and look forward to working with the local team and industry partners to accelerate the airline’s growth in the Thai market," Karagkioules said.
