European travel search engine wins new funding
European travel search engine Liligo has secured three million euros in a second round of funding.
The proceeds will be used to expand the team, continue to improve the user experience and speed international development in continental Europe.
The funding round was led by new investor Orkos Capital and first round investor Alven Capital.
The Paris-based site – www.liligo.com – was established two years ago.
The firm sees itself as the ‘Google of travel’ by offering real time searches across 250 travel sites for flights, trains, hotels, holiday rentals and car hire, including low-cost airlines and tour operators.
It claims its consumer-focused approach differs from most competitors, which give preference to merchants who have paid to appear high in search results.
Liligo has more than one million European unique users a month and employs 20 people in Paris and Budapest.
The service is available to consumers in France, the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and Hungary.
