Eurostar services still suspended to Brussels

Tuesday, 16 February 20103 min read

Eurostar services to Brussels continue to be suspended today after Belgian commuter trains collided yesterday morning killing 18 people.

The accident happened at Halle just outside Brussels, where domestic commuter lines and high-speed train lines connect. Other European rail services such as Thalys running to France, Germany and the Netherlands have also been suspended on the line.

There is a reduced service Eurostar service between London and Lille. London to Paris services, however, are operating normally.

A spokesman for Eurostar said: “Because of the seriousness of the accident and the expected impact on both domestic and international rail services, passengers between the UK and Brussels are strongly advised to postpone or cancel their journeys. Eurostar passengers can exchange or refund their tickets.”
