Lufthansa’s budget carrier Eurowings is looking to hire an additional 200 pilots and 400 cabin crew to support is expansion plans.
The airline, which is embroiled in an ongoing pay dispute with existing cabin crew, is seeking pilots, pursers and flight attendants with a valid licence to fly its Airbus A320s.
In addition, the airline has agreed to extend all current time-limited employment contracts of flight attendants for an indefinite period of time in face of the threat of futher strike action by the cabin crew union UFO.
Flight attendants whose contracts are terminating at the end of 2017 have also been offered roles at Lufthansa’s other budget carrier, Germanwings, it said.
Those who are members of the UFO union went out on strike last October, forcing the cancellation of about 400 flights.
UFO warned Eurowings earlier this month that it planned to ballot members for further strike action after talks over pay and conditions broke down.
