Exodus Systems announces release of Java-based Resmaster system.

London UK – 12 January 2004. Exodus Systems, a relatively recent entrant into the UK technology market, announced today the upcoming release of a new Java-based version of its integrated Reservations and Accounting system for Tour Operators – Resmaster. “For too long there has been a lack of serious choice of Technology provider for Tour Operators in the UK”, said Warren Kinny, founder and Managing Director of Exodus. “We have brought a tried and proven system design to the UK to address this lack, and now we can offer it in a bundle that should appeal to operators both large and small, whether they are startup or long-established businesses”. The new Resmaster system, which has taken over 18 months and significant investment to develop, will be showcased for the first time at the Travel Technology show at London Olympia on 3rd and 4th Feb 2004. The company believes that the Java platform enables them to offer the best of both old and new to prospective clients, and significantly broadens their potential client base. “The new system builds upon all the power and features of our existing system and carries these forward into an environment that gives our clients a modern interface, incredible flexibility of operating platform, as well as guaranteeing the longevity of the system” said Mr Kinny. “Effectively we are protecting both our clients’ and our own investment in our system”. Java is the modern development language of choice in today’s world of IT professionals. Embedded within the very essence of the Java language is the ability to run the same program on a huge variety of hardware and operating systems, ranging from PDAs, wireless devices and mobile phones, through traditional PCs and web-browsers, to servers and mainframes. “We chose Java because it provided us with a truly open-standards environment”, said Mr Kinny. “If potential clients have already invested in Unix, IBM DB2 or Oracle for example, we will now be able to offer them our software while still leveraging their investment. This removes one of the biggest stumbling blocks facing larger companies considering a move to a better IT system.” Mr Kinny also suggests that the new system also offers potential clients the chance to significantly reduce their overall cost of ownership, and take back control of their IT destiny. “Exodus Systems has always been committed to 100% backwards compatibility in all our systems enhancements”, he explained. “Java was a natural choice for us because it is a genuine open-source, open-standards environment that embraces the same philosophy. This is so refreshing after seeing years of exactly the opposite approach from Mr Gates’ rapacious enterprise. Anyone who has paid new and higher license fees for an ‘upgrade’ to Microsoft software only to discover that it delivered little else except the need for extra work to make their existing systems continue to work properly will know what I am talking about. This can never happen with our Java program”. Exodus Systems have also specifically addressed the issue of their existing client base, by offering an “Exodus classic” look-and-feel option within the new system. Mr Kinny explained that this option allows the new system to respond to all the inputs that are familiar to users of the existing system. The company is hopeful that the new product will provide the required impetus to accelerate their entrance into the UK and European markets. “We expect uptake of the new product to be very considerable”, commented Mr Kinny. “Once word gets out that a feature-rich modern system is available that is built upon a tried and proven design, we expect that it will acquire a significant market share”.
