Experience Kissimmee commences reopening
11 June 2020 — Attractions and accommodations in Kissimmee, The Vacation Home Capital of the World®, are gradually starting to reopen. Whilst international visitors cannot travel to the dream destination just yet, Kissimmee is getting ready to welcome them back to the magic.
Experience Kissimmee, the Florida destination’s official tourism authority, is working with its partners to share their new and updates safety measures — to help make visitors’ stays as safe as possible as the process of reopening begins.
Located just a wave-of-a-wand away from world-famous theme parks, Kissimmee is also situated at the headwaters of the Everglades, offering an abundance of attractions, towns and eco-experiences to explore.
What visitors need to know:
Holiday homes, hotels and resorts:
With over 70,000 accommodation options including over 50,000 holiday homes with private access, Kissimmee has always offered clean and safe stays for visitors. These homes are ideal for multi-generation holidays or larger family groups.
On 20 May 2020, Osceola County approved the reopening of holiday homes to overnight visitors if certain criteria are met. Comprehensive training for staff, housekeepers and technicians has already been completed, as well as a revaluation of the extensive program for enhanced cleaning procedures. In accordance with state and local government guidelines for reopening resorts, Margaritaville Resort Orlando reopened the doors on 15 May 2020, for all properties inclusive of Margaritaville Resort Orlando, which includes Margaritaville Hotel and Cottages.
Other resorts and hotels including Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate, Westgate Town Center Resort and Spa, Reunion Resort and Golf Club and Melia Orlando Celebration are all open.

Attractions:
Many attractions including Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, Gatorland, Boggy Creek Airport Adventures, Revolution Adventures, Old Town, Fun Spot America – Kissimmee, Dinosaur World, and Island H20 Live! are currently open and have implemented new social distancing protocols.

Major Theme Parks:
Disney Springs® began a responsible phased reopening on 20 May 2020. Several shopping and dining locations are now open, and a number of new safety measures have been activated. These include restricted parking areas, cashless transactions, and mandatory temperature screenings for every employee and guest.
Universal Orlando Resort’s CityWalk also reopened on 20 May 2020, and restaurants including Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Voodoo Doughnut are currently offering limited seating options and are accepting mobile orders.
Legoland® Florida Resort began its phased reopening on 1 June 2020.
Universal Orlando Resort® and Universal’s Island of Adventure™ reopened on 5 June 2020. This carefully managed reopening comes with stringent new health, safety and hygiene procedures in place.
SeaWorld® Parks & ResortTM Orlando and Aquatica®, SeaWorld’s water park, is expected to reopen on 11 June 2020.
Walt Disney World® has planned a tiered reopening. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdome have a tentative reopening date of 11 July 2020, followed by Epcot and Hollywood Studios on 15 July.
Busch Gardens Tampa is remaining closed until further notice.
Restaurants:
Kissimmee boasts an eclectic dining scene, with local, fresh flavours to please every palate. A broad range of restaurants are now open and are offering socially distanced dining, curbside pick-ups, takeaways, and deliveries.
Open restaurants include STK, Orlando’s Top-Rated Steakhouse, Estefan Kitchen, Frontera Cocina and Vintage Vino Wine Bar.

Shopping:
Kissimmee offers world-class shopping, from large outlets to boutique stores.
Simon Shopping published its COVID-19 Exposure Control Policy allowing Florida Mall, Orlando Premium Outlets® and Orlando Premium Outlets® – Vineyard Avenue to commence the first phase of their reopening. Phase 1 includes 25% indoor capacity and thorough social distancing guidelines.
The world-renowned Mall at Millenia has reopened with new daily hours, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
