FAA calls for delay to 5G rollout
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and FAA administrator Steve Dickson have urged Verizon and AT&T to delay their planned rollout of 5G services, as fears persist over disruption to flights.
The 5G tech is scheduled to go live on 5 January. In a letter, Buttigieg and Dickson requested a two-week pause. 5G C-band certain frequencies can potentially interfere with aircraft navigation equipment.
Airlines for America, on behalf of airline members, last week filed an emergency request for a delay to the Federal Communications Commission.
