ABOUT ROMAGNA:

The historic region of Romagna (wonderfully set between the Apennine mountains and the Adriatic sea) has one of the most astonishing treasure chests of heritage, culture, food, wine and hospitality in the world.

Romagna’s World Heritage cities include the fabulous world heritage mountaintop republic of San Marino. Ravenna, just up the coast, world famous for its mosaics, was three times capital of Italy and has no less than 8 UNESCO sites over 1,000 years old.

I

n addition Romagna features no less than five other fabulous art cities in an area less than 100km square including the ancient ceramic art city of Faenza, the historic salt-city seaside resort of Cervia, the delightful olive-oil hillside town of Brisighella, the ancienr Roman city of Rimini, the lovely town of Lugo and historic vineyards of Bertinoro.

And there is a range of superb seaside resorts, from Fellini’s Rimini, through idyllic Cesenatico with its Leonardo da Vinci port, to the Garden city by the sea – Milano Marittima.

The hills and mountains of Romagna abound with ancient hilltop castles and atmospheric villages – all with spectacular views and great belvederes.

Moreover Romagna, because of the fertility of its land, is also the birthplace of Italian cuisine. It has arguably the best cookery school in Italy as part of an unique foundation started by a Romagnolo man – Pellegrino Artusi . Artusi is known to Italians all over the world as the father of Italian cuisine.

In all, Romagna is a classic tourism treasure chest!
