Food and wine, fairytale castles, fun cooking course in an un-touristy corner of paradise between Venice and Florence, the Apennines and the Adriatic
Romagna destination experiences now open for applications from travel agents, operators, bloggers, journalists and highly-connected individuals to experience this unique area.
Applications are invited for a special FAM trip to the ancient Italian region of Romagna this harvest-time. Between Venice and Florence, the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea – Romagna is known as the ‘Heart of Italy’. Less touristy than many other Italian destinations, Romagna is known throughout Italy for its warm hospitality, the quality of its food and wine, its stunningly beautiful countryside and its major cities of art.
FAM trip eligible participants will include travel agents, tour operators, bloggers, journalists, MICE operators and group organisers from all over the world.
There are nominal charges for the FAM trips but this will be 100% refunded depending on post-FAM results (bookings or coverage).
The FAM trips to Romagna "Food: Wine: Castles: Culture : Coast" will cost: £300 ($420) per person (participants and spouses subject to space)
The trips include: Return transfers from Bologna Airport, 6 nights 4**** accommodation with all meals, guided excursions specially-arranged tastings of local produce including food, wine, olive oils, sea salt, a hands-on cookery class to make fabulous pasta and an informal workshop to understand the area – in particular its marketing opportunities.
Participants will see Romagna’s green tourism initiatives and visit green hotels; learn to cook a local speciality in "Italy’s Best Cookery School"; taste some of the region’s greatest DOP Olive Oils; try some of Italy’s best wines in beautiful hilltop vineyard-villages, visit the fabulous mountaintop World Heritage Republic of San Marino, walk in Leonardo da Vinci’s port, of Cesenatico; experience the astonishing 1500-year old basilicas and mosaics in Ravenna; see at least 10 stunning fairytale hilltop castles and try the extraordinary ‘Sweet Salt of Cervia’ in the beautiful, historic seaside destination where it is harvested. Plus enjoy incredible vistas through the Romagna hills on a day trip to Florence.
Post FAM day excursions will be available to Venice (all dates) and to Expo Milano 2015 (29 September and 13 October departures only).
There will be up to 100% post-FAM refund depending on resultant marketing results.
Very small group departure dates: 29 September, 13 & 27 October and 3 November. Numbers for both trips are strictly limited and therefore criteria will apply.

ABOUT ROMAGNA:
Romagna has one of the most astonishing treasure chests of heritage, culture and hospitality in the world.
The World Heritage city of Ravenna itself, world famous for its mosaics, was three times capital of the Roman Empire and has no less than 8 UNESCO sites all around 1500 years old.
Within the borders of Romagna there is the ancient ceramic art city of Faenza, the historic salt-city seaside resort of Cervia, the delightful olive-oil hillside town of Brisighella, the lovely Venetian-influenced resort and fishing port of Cesenatico (surveyed by Leonardo da Vinci) and historic hillside vineyards including in wine-centres such as Bertinoro.
Major art cities include Roman Rimini (now also a glitzy resort) serene Cesena (where there is the oldest library in the world), Forli with incredibly eclectic architecture from the middle ages to Mussolini’s brutalist Art Deco, festival-city Santarcangelo, and the Sforza city of Imola where Leonardo da Vinci worked for the Borgias.
The world’s oldest republic – San Marino, at the top of mount Titano – towers over the area – this extraordinary world heritage site, and fiercely independent state is walkable history.
Romagna has an incredible legacy of atmospheric medieval hill and mountaintop castles, and citadels – it is said over 300 – built by the Montefeltro, Sforza, Este and the Malatesta families – and by various Popes.
Romagna is arguably also the birthplace of Italian cuisine. It has arguably the best cookery school in Italy as part of an unique foundation started by a Romagnolo man – Pellegrino Artusi . Artusi is known to Italians all over the world as the father of Italian cookery.
