Families ‘getting more adventurous’
The Gambia, Kenya and Morocco have made it into lastminute.com’s top 10 destinations for families this half-term.
The Dominican Republic is also proving popular – in sixth place – as families take advantage of end-of-season prices in the Caribbean,
Long term favourite Majorca is in top position, followed by Greece and Cyprus.
Lastminute.com’s travel director John Bevan said: “As a nation the Brits are well-travelled and confident so it stands to reason that the family market is following the overall trend in visiting slightly more unusual destinations.
“Holidays in Gambia, Kenya and Morocco represent great value for money in general for the Brits, but to make them even more appealing at present some of our top suppliers are offering great reductions on child places or room upgrades. The idea that holiday prices always sky-rocket during school holidays is not necessarily always true.
“Our second most popular destination for families this half term is Egypt. Despite recent incidents in the country, the Brits have been quick to return to Red Sea resorts and booking levels are now higher than they were before the most recent security alert.”
lastminute.com’s top 10 half-term destinations:
1. Majorca
2. Egypt
3. Greece
4. Cyprus
5. Mainland Spain
6. Dominican Republic
7. Tunisia
8. Kenya
9. Gambia
10. Morocco
