Fatal crash report: Gold Coast helicopter pilot had taken cocaine
A preliminary investigation of a mid-air helicopter crash on the Gold Coast found the pilot had traces of cocaine in his system.
However, it says the volume of cocaine would likely not have been enough to impair his flying ability, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
Pilot Ashley Jenkinson was one of four people who died when two helicopters collided near the Sea World theme park.
The ATSB released the interim report exactly one year after the incident.
The report found some passengers were not wearing seatbelts properly.
The helicopter took off and collided with another as it was coming into land at the helipad.
It then crash landed on a sandbar killing the pilot and three passengers.
It seriously injured three other occupants.
The other helicopter was able to land on the sandbar but all six occupants suffered injuries.
The full accident report is expected to be published later this year.
