Citing strong demand, Carnival Corp’s Fathom cruise brand is switching two of its Dominican Republic sailings to Cuba.
The additional sailings will operate to Cuba on October 9 and November 6.
So far the line has operated alternating week-long cruises to the two destinations.
Fathom begin sailing to Cuba in early May, as the only American line currently sailing to the country from the US.
Sales for Fathom’s Cuba sailings have been strong and ‘are almost sold out for the year with only a small number of staterooms available for a few remaining fall cruises to Cuba,’ said Tara Russell, president of Fathom.
There is also ‘extremely strong demand for 2017,’ Russell added.
Departures to the Dominican Republic on the other hand, have lagged, with prices being slashed for some dates.
Guests booked on the two affected Dominican Republic sailings can transfer their booking to the Cuba sailings at no charge, rebook for an alternate Dominican Republic sailing, or get a full refund.
"Carnival Corporation made history when Fathom arrived in Havana on May 2 of this year, and we continue to strengthen our relationships as the only U.S. cruise company sailing to Cuba from the U.S. – and we are very grateful to Cuban officials for granting us two new dates to accommodate more travelers wanting to sail with Fathom to visit their remarkable country," Russell said in a release.
The seven day ‘social impact’ Cuba sailings visit Havana, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.
