The UK Foreign Office is advising visitors to China to avoid the port area of Tianjin following a massive explosion there.

It says the area should be avoided until the authorities give the all clear.

According to the latest reports, at least 44 people died in two explosions in a warehouse storing ‘dangerous and chemical goods’.

The explosions, which caused a huge fireball and destroyed office blocks, cars and blew out windows within a radius of 1.5 miles, also injured more than 500 people.
