Finnair’s service from Edinburgh to Helsinki will continue year-round from March 25.

The route, operated by a 138-seat Airbus A319, will run three times a week in winter, increasing to five weekly flights during the summer.

"Finnair is currently in the largest expansion phase of its history and we are pressing forward by growing our capacity to popular destinations in Asia and Europe," said chief commercial officer Juha Jarvinen.

"These added frequencies will offer our customers more choice and flexibility for their winter plans."

The airline has also confirmed that its new non-stop flights from Gatwick to Ivalo and Kittila in Finnish Lapland will continue next winter following a successful launch this winter.
