Finnair has announced hundreds of flight cancellations for two days in December due to a pilot strike.
The Finnish Air Line Pilots’ Association confirmed strike action on 9 and 13 December.
The airline says it is forced to cancel about 300 flights during these two days, as well as some services on 10, 11 and 14 December.
The strike may also impact some individual flights prior to 9 December.
Finnair expects around 33,000 Finnair customers will be disrupted.
The cancelled flights are across its network within Europe, to and from the UK and long haul Asia flights.
It includes direct flights to Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
“This unfortunately disrupts the travel plans of thousands of our customers during the pre-Christmas season. We are doing everything we can to serve our customers well even in this difficult situation,” said Finnair’s COO, Jaakko Schildt.
Finnair says 140 flights are cancelled from 9 December and around 150 flights from 13 December.
Customers will receive information about the cancellation along with a rerouting option when possible.
“Finding suitable new flights for thousands of customers takes time, so we ask our customers to be patient,” Schildt added.
