More than half of Brits will head off on holiday this summer feeling ‘in desperate need of a break and some political respite’ after the Brexit vote.
A survey by First Choice found 60% of 1,416 adults who are planning on going on holiday this summer, in the UK or abroad, said they wanted to get away from it all following Britain’s vote to leave the EU.
The research also found that more than 40% of Brits say they will be avoiding news from home when on holiday this summer to have a complete break.
In addition, work emails (34.5%), social media (33.6%) and newspapers (27%) came out as the top things Brits want to switch off from as we hit the beaches this summer.
"Despite the political upheaval, holidaymakers are not being put off booking their holidays," said Mark Hall, director of product at First Choice.
"More than ever before they want to flee the UK, spend time with their families and switch off. All inclusive holidays are increasing in popularity as customers want peace of mind and control over their holiday budget, so they don’t have to worry about what they’re spending while away."
According to First Choice data the most popular all-inclusive destinations this summer are Balearics, Cyprus, Rhodes and Cancun.
