First Japan casino resort set for approval
Officials could finally green light the first ever Japan casino resort.
The first integrated resort is Osaka is expected to be approved.
It will be located on a man-made island in Osaka Bay, featuring a Japan casino, conference centre, hotel and theatre.
Plans were first submitted two years ago.
A government committee is thought to have approved the plans
With no further delays, the casino resort could open by 2029.
Osako government officials believe it will significantly boost tourism.
The Osako casino project is the only one of three allowed under current Japan law that is close to being approved.
The cities of Yokohama and Sapporo had also planned Japan casino resorts but backed out after local opposition.
