Vietnam has got off to a good year with a near 20% increase in tourist arrivals for the first quarter of 2016.
The Vietnam National Administration recorded a 28% jump in arrivals for March to take the total in Q1 to 2.46 million, up 19.9% overall compared to 2015.
The major driver was the China market which grew by more than 60% followed by South Korea with 30% more tourists during the first three months of 2015.
These two nations contributed to 40% of all tourist arrivals.
There was also double-digit growth from Japan, the US, UK, France and Malaysia.
The figures mark a strong recovery compared to the early months of 2015.
Since then the government has relaxed visa rules for many nations which is starting to pay dividends.
