Flight delays in NY, Philly as bad weather blows east
The Midwest got a blast of blowing snow, wind and rain yesterday as hundreds of flights were cancelled at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Other affected airports include Chicago Midway international, Kansas City International, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County and Minneapolis St. Paul International Airports.
Over 700 flights were cancelled yesterday with over 90 minute delays on other flights.
The site, FlightAware.com reports that as of last night American (including Eagle), United (including Express) and Southwest are the airlines with the most cancellations due to the Midwest storm. All airlines are allowing fee-free changes.
On Friday, FlightAware says that wind-related delays are now affecting the Northeast. A total of 172 arrivals and departures have been canceled on Friday at Newark (69), LaGuardia (62), Philadelphia (35) and JFK (11).
December 21 is traditionally the heaviest air-traffic day of the year, with thousands of travelers seeking to get to their holiday destinations on time.
