A KLM flight made an emergency landing at Norwich Airport after the pilot reported an electrical fault and fumes in the cockpit.
Ten fire engines were sent to the airport to meet the diverted KLM flight from Manchester to Amsterdam Schiphol.
However, the Boeing 737 with 114 passengers on board made a normal landing, airport director Andrew Bell told the BBC.
Passengers disembarked safely and 80 were given overnight hotel accommodation.
A KLM spokesman said the plane had made a "precautionary landing because of unidentified fumes" and was being repaired.
The aircraft left for Amsterdam last night and will return to service today, he said.
