Flights and trains hit by strike today
Flights and train services to and from France will be badly hit today (Tuesday) as both airline and rail workers stage a walkout.
Air France has been forced to cancel more than 25% of its flights again due to the latest in a series of rolling strikes by crew.
Eurostar has cancelled 10 trains between the UK, France and Belgium ahead of the latest round of industrial action by SNCF French railway workers.
Air France said it expects to operate 70% of its long-haul flights, 65% of its medium-haul flights to and from Paris Charles de Gaulle and 80% of its short-haul flights to and from Orly and French provincial airports.
Around 35% of long-haul flights have been cancelled with 35% of medium-haul flights from Charles de Gaulle and 20% of short-haul flights from Orly and regional airports.
Unions have been staging intermittent strikes since February 22, having rejected a 2% pay rise for 2018, followed by a 5% rise for the next three years.
Air France KLM is to begin a consultation period with staff on Thursday, scheduled to run to May 4, in a bid to end the continued strike action.
