Florida under hurricane watch
Florida is bracing for a potentially life-threatening storm surge. Tropical Storm Elsa is expected to make landfall on the west coast of the peninsular. A state of emergency is in effect covering 26 counties.
President Joe Biden approved an Emergency Declaration for the state ahead of the storm. Elsa is the first potential hurricane of the season and made landfall in Cuba on Monday and it has been gaining strength.
The storm surge warning covers most of the west coast including Tampa.
