Former ABTA chair joins travel firm set for growth

Former ABTA chairman John McEwan has joined the board of EFR Travel Limited as it looks to expand with corporate acquisitions.

EFR, founded by Edward Rom, includes corporate travel – with a private jet division and a concierge service, a luxury tour operating programme and golfing holidays.

The travel firm, which is a member of the Advantage Travel Partnership, is looking to expand both organically and through acquisitions

John McEwan, who will join as a director, said: "I am really pleased to be joining the board of EFR. They are an ambitious company and I look forward to working with the board to grow the business both organically and through suitable acquisitions.

"We are looking to grow in the corporate travel field."

Founder and managing director,Edward Rom said: "I am delighted that someone of John’s standing has agreed to join the board of EFR. He has a wealth of experience across the whole of the travel industry and his insight will be invaluable as we grow the business."

John had senior roles in Thomas Cook and TUI as well as being the CEO of Advantage Travel Centres for 8 years, stepping down in April of last year.

He is also chairman of Holidaysplease and deputy chairman of People 1st.
