Fred Olsen takes regional focus for 2010

The Scottish port of Rosyth near Edinburgh is a new departure point for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines in summer 2010.
The ship Boudicca will run a series of sailings in July next year to Spitsbergen, the Baltic and Norway from Rosyth.
In line with the company’s policy of using regional departure ports, there are also cruises from Dover, Southampton, Liverpool, Newcastle and Greenock (Glasgow).
Destinations include the Eastern and Western Mediterranean, Canary Islands, Adriatic, Norway, the Baltic, the North Cape, Iceland and Round Britain, as well as a selection of mini cruises.
The ships Balmoral and Braemar will operate their summer cruise programmes from Dover, while Black Watch is to sail from Southampton.
Sister ship Boudicca is to operate from northern ports, starting from Liverpool in late March, with cruises to the Canaries, Mediterranean, Norway and the Baltic.
In June the ship will operate from Greenock to the Canaries, Italy and Norway before moving on to Rosyth and then Newcastle (Port of Tyne) in August for cruises to the North Cape and Scandinavia, Baltic, Norway and round Britain, before returning to Southampton in October.
A preview brochure detailing the summer and autumn 2010 cruises for all four ships also includes Fed Olsen’s Civilisations cultural add-on package with guest lecturers covering a range of topics.
Civilisations cruises include Braemar’s 16-night Italy cruise departing on September 6, which has a theme of “Imperial Rome”,and Black Watch’s Baltic cruise on June 8 for 14 nights with a theme of "Baltic Monarchies".
Selected cruises also offer Flagship Golf packages that combine four rounds of golf ashore with onboard professional tuition, practice sessions and social activities.
The line’s general sales manager Lol Nichols said: “We are delighted to be offering a wider choice of departure ports then ever.
“This makes cruising much more convenient for our customers from all over the UK; for northerly cruises, it saves a lot of time to start from Rosyth or Greenock, rather than Dover or Southampton.
“Essentially, it is about choice and offering our customers something extra. The Civilisations and Flagship Golf packages also allow our customers to add a whole new dimension to their cruise, depending on their own particular areas of interest.”
