Galileo – New low cost air search & complimentary service fee module
Galileo Pacific has increased the fare search capability of its low cost carrier solution, Galileo Low Cost Air, giving local agents even more air ‘content’ and choice of fare.
Agents can now view non GDS fares search results from selected European, Asian and South African low cost carriers, which is in addition to Galileo Low Cost Air’s current domestic and trans Tasman fare search capability. Agents using Galileo Low Cost Air need only conduct one search to compare GDS fares with selected low cost carrier fares outside the GDS.
All search results are displayed on a single screen for easy comparison and include pre-payable taxes, surcharges, and credit card fees.
Galileo Low Cost Air now provides local agents with the capability to search Ryanair, easyJet, BMI Baby, Aer Lingus, Jet2.com, Jetstar International, Air Asia and two South Africa based airlines, Kulula and 1time. In addition, Galileo has implemented a more robust connection method to improve shopping and booking on selected low cost carrier website sites which often experience high levels of Internet traffic.
Another benefit is the integration of Galileo Low Cost Air’s booking details into Galileo’s mid back office solution – Cross Check Travel, which means agents using these products gain the efficiencies of a streamlined workflow.
In addition to this expanded search capability, a complimentary Service Fee module has been introduced to help local agents manage their service fee pricing. This new module is best suited to less complex fee management and provides an alternative to Galileo Fee Manager which handles the more complex fee structures often required by large TMC’s.
Galileo’ s online AP product manager, Mark Hopf commented, “Galileo Low Cost Air was developed locally to support the air shopping needs within our region and we are pleased to expand the search capability, giving users a wider choice of carriers. The aim of Galileo Low Cost Air is to provide a platform which focuses on efficiencies for our agents and supports improved quality control at the point of sale.”
Galileo Low Cost Air was launched in Australia in March 2006 to eliminate the need for agents to access individual low cost carrier websites when comparing web fares with the GDS.
By comparison, if an agent were to access the individual low cost carrier website directly, the website fare search results page may display the base fare component only. Using the fare matrix in Galileo Low Cost Air, the agent can quote the actual price, increasing the transparency of the fare quoting process.
Over 480 agents across Australia have registered to use Galileo Low Cost Air since its launch, and will become available to agents in New Zealand.
